Art Under Apartheid welcomes independent, creative individuals who want to share their time and skills will the children of Tel Rumeida. If you have an idea for a type of art workshop, please fill out the contact form and tell us your project proposal.Examples of activities the children would enjoy are:
Arabic translators are available to help you teach the classes if needed. Please remember to add fees for their services into your budget. Volunteers already working with other organizations in Palestine are encouraged to join us. If you are not already here with us in Palestine and still trying to decide which organization to work with, know that we encourage you to work with at least one other organization besides us, in order to gain a broad perspective of what life is like for Palestinians under occupation. Organizations already working in the city of Hebron are the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), Tel Rumeida Project (TRP), Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT), Ecumenical Accompaniment Program for Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). If you want to come only to work with Art Under Apartheid, you will stay at the ISM apartment in Tel Rumeida and will be required to do ISM training before you begin your work in order to have some background on how to deal with the unexpected situations that come up while living in Tel Rumeida. For all the details on traveling to Palestine and everything you will need, please see the information provided on the ISM website. When making your travel plans, please take in to account that you will need at least a week to acclimatize, receive training and orientation, get your bearings, and make the necessary contacts to start your workshops. Please plan accordingly. We ask that you spend a minimum of two weeks on your project so this would mean you would need at least three weeks total in Palestine. Of course we would love it if you stayed longer. |
